Evan was so incredibly, indescribably happy to be tasting the goddess' lips again, to be feeling her fingers in his hair clench and twist, her tongue peeking into the kiss as though to pull him closer. He moaned softly against her lips, his hand in her hair clenching and twisting to mirror hers. He relished the way he could feel her knees weakening. He had half a mind to push her onto the ground, but her kisses trailing down his neck and turning to bites utterly derailed him, pulling a louder moan from deep in his throat and threatening to make his knees give out. Right about then he certainly wouldn't have minded if she'd decided to push him to the ground.
Instead, she pulled back from him, leaving him breathless and utterly unable to hide the yearning in his eyes as he willed them open to find her. At least her hand was still in his hair, and his in hers, but their bodies were absolutely unacceptably far apart.
He gathered himself when he realized she was speaking, though, and he registered after the fact that the shivers that went through him were because she was touching his burns. Their ache had been so fucking forgettable compared to everything else, he was almost irritated to be reminded of it, but her words started to sink in; she could fix them?
The captain was too dumbfounded to fight the goddess as she took off his shirt. Despite the disorienting, driving desire to be closer to her, he was intrigued and honestly pretty damn touched at this idea that she'd be able--and willing--to heal him. She gestured for him to lay down where she had been, and he nodded to her before doing just that, groaning softly as his attention couldn't help sinking into the ache of the burns as he knelt down. The sensation eased once he laid down, though in its stead bubbled a sharp, needling anxiety pricking nearly every inch of his skin. He tried to just swallow down the sensation, telling himself that it was ridiculous to feel this nervous here. It seemed he and the goddess had managed to get back more on the same page again, at least for now, and even if the process of healing was painful, surely it wouldn't be worse than the process of getting the burns in the first place.
His eyes looked up at the sky, or maybe off to the side slightly; anything but looking at the goddess. Between his still-burning urge to touch her again and this prickling anxiety that buzzed over his skin, he couldn't quite bear to look at her, and he had to just hope she wouldn't read the wrong things from that fact.

Re: Part 1
While Evan's bubbling happiness filled the goddess with an immense warmth, the shift toward giving him instructions came with surprise and hesitation the goddess did not expect. Was he still afraid of her? Dehaljadrun thought that made the most sense. She had a lot to make up for, and words weren't enough, no matter how vulnerable they had made her. Still, she couldn't help but purse her lips a little as some voice in her mind chastised Evan with A goddess just professed her love to you. Can't you look a little more pleased about that?
She shook that voice off, though, entirely too focused on watching Evan's body as he lay down in the very place she had been before his arrival, seeing his muscles strain to cause the least amount of pain to the injured areas. The stones and the mist gave him a supernatural quality, and she playfully thought, See? This is why it's easy to think you're not human. That, she supposed, and he obviously wasn't a thrall.
The goddess wasted no time relighting the torches with the opposite gesture she used to put them out--she didn't exactly want anyone sneaking up on this any more than on her meditation--and immediately she felt a sense of security and warmth as her protection spells reactivated. The goddess felt cocooned here with Evan in a way that further softened her heart and made it easy to kneel down beside him, straddle one of his legs, shoot him a smirk that quickly turned into an excited and mischievous grin, before concentrating and emitting a small, single purple flame from one finger. With one more glance at Evan, her face now more composed but still smirking, she slowly lowered the flame to the bandage over Evan's skin, prepared to burn through enough of it to get it off the wounded areas.
Dehaljadrun started on the area in the center of Evan's navel, knowing the burns were to either side of it, and meticulously placed the single flame to it, watching in fascination as it slowly spread, knowing it would warm the parts of Evan that must have been in excruciating pain throughout most of the day. She watched as the memories and experiences of the pain flooded his mind, and she was thrilled. It made her ache for the moment they had shared a body again, though she was so enraptured by the thought of what she was about to do that there was little that could distract her.
Just as the flames threatened to burn through the extra padding on top of the wounds, Dehaljadrun leaned down with calculated slowness and finally blew gently over the area to put out the flames. Looking at Evan briefly once more to gauge his reaction, she continued, unwrapping both sides of the bandage with a swift but gentle motion.
The burns looked exactly the way she imagined they would. The skin on the edge of each burn was blackened and, in some places, blistered, while the center was blotched with angry reds and purples. The burned area oozed around scabs and cracks, but the sight of this did not deter the goddess at all. In fact, she was honored and awed that Evan had withstood this for her for an entire day. She had not intended to send him back this way, and with the severity of the wounds exposed to her, she was honestly shocked he wanted to come back. Not only had she flayed his skin to the extent that it appeared dead, but she had told her thrall to crush Evan's spirit without mercy. And, still, he wanted to come back. Wanted to come back. Not just for the sake of his cause. Unless, of course, he was getting very good at lying.
But, just then, with his body so absolutely vulnerable to her in the purple firelight of the torches that created a protective dome around them, she could not, for the life of her, mistrust this man.
Dehaljadrun was not disgusted by the wounds in any visible way; instead, she got closer to them, able to smell the burned flesh, and she put her left cheek directly on his left side burn, slowly applying a gentle pressure to that side. After a moment of relishing briefly in the pain she knew the gentle gesture caused him, she lifted off the wound and kissed the blackened edges of it, which still did not offer Evan any relief. Finally, after placing on hand on each of his thighs and moving fully between Evan's legs, she leaned down and carefully licked the far edge of the left side burn, and a light mist or steam appeared to escape as though she was pulling the heat out of that part of his body. The goddess coyly dragged her tongue around the perimeter of the burn before moving in very slow concentric circles around the middle of it. It was a slow process, but if Evan were watching, he would have seen the skin fill back out and change shades to match the rest of his body line by slow line.
About halfway through this process, the goddess moaned deeply and pushed her tongue deeper into the wounded area that remained, relishing in the strange combination of pain and pleasure, relief and agony, as it washed over both of them. Her hands gripped more tightly around Evan's thighs, and she found herself nearly in tears at the potency of the interaction. It had been so long since she had gotten an excuse to do this.

Re: Part 1
Evan's heartbeat thumped more and more loudly in his ears as the goddess knelt down by him. His leg couldn't help but bend slightly beneath her, aiming to increase contact with her, even if it was dampened by the pants he was suddenly angry he still had on. He caught a hint of her smirk out of the corner of his eye, though his gaze was still mostly turned away, his brow drawn together with strain and his cheeks pink with fluster.
He did blink down to her when he caught a glimpse of that small purple flame at the edge of his vision. His heart leapt to his throat, and he had to exert some effort to keep his arms at his side and his shoulders on the ground, not to instinctively protect himself from yet more burns. Despite the fear present in his body, he trusted her.
Sure enough, the goddess only used that flame to burn the bandages, though that certainly did light up the nerves beneath the small flame as it spread, pricking excitedly at skin that was unharmed and gently prodding warmth towards the skin that still hid beneath gauze pads. His heartbeat echoed in the surface of his burns, pulling their ache into his attention in a way that reverberated pleasantly, if with a hint of anxious anticipation. He looked nervous when the goddess glanced back up to him, but mostly calm, though his fluster certainly increased when the goddess caught his eye, and he tossed his gaze away before hiding under a veneer of grumpiness. His fingers pressed themselves into the stones beneath him, wishing they could bury themselves inside dirt--or better yet, he supposed, sink their nails into skin, but alas, he was holding himself back from such things while the goddess worked.
His whole body shivered as the goddess peeled back his bandages, exposing his burns to the air, and to her. His heartbeat still echoed in the blistered, oozing flesh, the thumping growing even louder in his hears. Some errant thought wondered whether the goddess could hear it, or maybe even see it in his skin. Hell, he grew curious enough of whether the pulsing he felt was visible to glance down again, just in time to see the goddess about to press her cheek straight into one of his burns. His heart leapt into his throat again, his whole body stiffening against the oncoming pain.
The captain clenched his eyes shut and groaned through gritted teeth as the smooth, soft skin of the goddess' cheek pressed into his wound, stabbing every charred and tender nerve with alarm. He absolutely hated this juxtaposition of what looked like a tender gesture on her part, with the pain and anxiety it flooded into his body. Though, the thought did occur to him he hated it precisely because it felt real fucking familiar, if never this fucking tangible before.
Her cheek lifting away from him almost felt like flesh ripping off, though realistically he knew the level of pain he felt wasn't on par with what that would actually feel like. He managed to bite back much of a response to it, though a soft sigh of relief did escape his lips once his nerves felt like they had a second to calm down. Of course, the instant he did that, he felt the goddess' lips at the edge of the burn, surprising him and also pricking fear into his nerves and in turn stiffening his body again. He lamented the way that kept him from fully enjoying the feel of the goddess' hands on his thighs, but then he felt her tongue against his burn, and while at first brush it sparked the same anxious, tender pricks as her previous touches, it seemed to leave a sense of relief in its wake.
Evan glanced down to see what was happening, and was stunned by the sight of his skin changing, letting off steam as it returned to its usual hue and texture. And, gods, the sight of the goddess, tenderly licking around his wound... He caught himself sniffing softly and tears wetting his cheeks as he propped himself up slightly on his elbows to get a better view. Some part of him wanted to look away and hide just how emotional he was getting, but he also didn't want to look away.
Then all at once her tongue veritably dove into his wound, and the captain groaned through gritted teeth again. His arms strained to hold him up, his curiosity and longing desperately trying to get past the pain enough to watch the goddess again, but something else won out. He laid back down against the ground and brought his hands up over his eyes, palms resting on his cheek and brow bones and his fingers digging into the hair over his forehead. His teeth kept gritting even after the groaning subsided, before finally a sob choked its way out of him, lighting his cheeks on fire with embarrassment which he could only hope his hands somehow hid. His jaw clenched shut again as quickly as it could, and he breathed in deeply and purposefully, trying to get a handle on the wave of emotions that was threatening to spill out.

Re: Part 1
The rush of Evan's blood within his body began to make the goddess lightheaded. It was akin to the sensation of preparing to merge, though not entirely that potent. Still, this experience was tied to that one and, coupled with the pleasure of working on Evan's wounds and the way his emotions ran rampant across his mind, Dehaljadrun was thoroughly entranced.
Every pump of Evan's heart left the goddess with an immense craving for him, to have him closer, to be inside him, to merge with his mind again, and her body swayed back and forth with delight and ecstasy. She bared registered the sighs, groans, and choking sounds Evan was making, too convinced of her own pleasure to believe that this--of all things she had done to him--was crossing a line. Sure, she was messing with his wounds, but she knew that this process was at least less painful than receiving them in the first place.
The first burn steamed for just a few moments after the goddess had pressed her tongue in its center before it had fully returned to normal, healthy skin. Grinning down at it, she pinched the place where the burn had been, knowing Evan might feel some phantom pain but knowing that, on a physical level, it had been healed. She could do whatever she wanted with that area again.
This thought excited her immensely, and she leaned over again to bite that area, hoping to elicit pleasure in both of them at the action. Gods did it ever feel good to not have to be careful with him!
She still had one burn to deal with, though. The goddess adjusted her weight so she could focus on the right side of Evan's body, her hand caressing gently over the burn as she barely touched him with a dum-da-dum of her fingers. She took less time with this burn, eager to get Evan back into a state where she felt confident he could push back against her again. Her tongue moved with its full surface area and immense pressure over the center of the burn, and then she wrapped her tongue around the outside of the circular area, allowing steam to escape Evan's body more quickly than she had with the last. The sensation was exquisite. The heat coming off Evan banished the cold around them, and Dehaljadrun felt the ache she had been fostered grow to a roaring fire within her as the last of the burn closed and the goddess' mouth still sucked on the area. Pulling the heat from his body, pulling the pain from his body, pulling sensation from his body as his blood coursed and rushed, as he reacted to her motions, made her heavy with desire and lust for this man, and it was immensely difficult to stop that pulling.
The goddess was growing so very full on the waves of emotions flooding Evan, knowing that those, too, would subside as she continued to suck in that place. His senses would begin to diminish next, his hearing replaced by the soft sound of rushing water, his vision tempted toward darkness. Still, the goddess sucked on his skin, so hungry for whatever he was willing to give her.
Finally, as a voice within her demanded that she let Evan go, Dehaljadrun pulled away from Evan, coming around to his side and still kneeling but just out of his reach. She took in his state and the bruise from her mouth that had replaced the burns on his right side and was thoroughly satisfied at the sight. For her own amusement, the goddess brushed her fingers down Evan's chest knowing that his sensation would not come back until she allowed it and enjoying how frustrating that would surely be to him.

Re: Part 1
Evan winced when the goddess pinched his healed flesh, and growled when she bit it. He vividly imagined hitting her, angry and protective the way he'd felt right before he'd almost hit Xavier, but he managed to just pound a fist against the ground at his side instead, his other arm shifting to flop over his eyes to keep up the illusion that his expression was sufficiently obfuscated. He simultaneously didn't want to give her the satisfaction of a slap, nor did he want to risk conveying the wrong feeling about what was actually happening. She wasn't hurting him--not his body, not in any way it wasn't perfectly able to handle, even enjoy. But fuck this process was intensely uncomfortable in ways Evan found difficult to parse. Emotionally, he supposed. It was one thing to let a medic clean a wound (which was never a comfortable process to begin with); another thing entirely to let a lover literally heal him. Especially to then have her practically mock the previous injury; it brought to mind flashes of ways she'd played with his ass the night before, and it was difficult as fuck to keep himself calm. The truth was, he wasn't calm--far fucking from it--but he was keeping himself contained, at least, his body brimming with the tension of his efforts to keep himself still. Despite the heady discomfort of this process, he did want her to finish it.
Another low growl resonated in his throat when the goddess lightly drummed her fingers over his lingering burn, and he was just about to snap at her to get the fuck on with it when her tongue finally made contact and began circling the area, pulling another groan out through his still-gritted teeth. The lump in his throat swelled and threatened to push out another sob. It succeeded around the time that the goddess finished licking and started sucking instead, although Evan's mind didn't entirely notice the transition between the two. What he did notice was that the sob, short and clipped as it was, seemed more cathartic than expected. Or, once he got around to recognizing that the goddess was sucking on his skin rather than licking shut his wound, it did occur to him that it seemed...calming, in a way he wouldn't have expected. He sniffed softly and finally let his other arm flop down to his side, his eyes glossy and pinkened as they looked up towards the sky while his attention drifted down through his body, feeling his muscles relax and the lump in his throat fade and even the faint lingering ache in his ass subside.
He might have been glad for it all, but there was some distant, abstract panic that tugged at him, especially once he realized that his vision seemed to be blurring and darkening, and his hearing overcome with the sound of water. He almost felt like he was drifting in the surf, but surrounded by warmth. He didn't even register when the goddess stopped sucking at his skin, though after a moment of lag he did register when she moved over beside him. He turned his head towards her when she touched his chest, his eyes tired and serene despite their pinkened state, but his brow almost stubbornly drawn together in concern.
"What did you do?"

Re: Part 1
The goddess only now registered Evan's expression--his eyes raw from tears, his eyebrows a mixture of frustration, worry, and confusion--but there was a dull quality to them that sent a sensation of bliss through her body. She was sorely tempted to lie beside him, press his body to hers, take off all his clothing and let the sweet experience of his skin seep into her.
But, she had a game now and was thoroughly intent on playing it.
"I want you to feel what it's like to be empty..."
As she said this, she could no longer stand having her dress between his skin and hers and took it off in one motion, baring her eagerly plump breasts.
"...to feel all your pain, emotion, sensation gone..."
The goddess climbed on top and fully straddled Evan's stomach now, her thighs pressed up against the places where the burns had been.
"...how frustrating it is to have all your desire pulled away from and out of you. Feel how little of you is left now that you are whole again..."
The goddess leaned down now, intent on putting her breasts as near to Evan's face as possible, pressing her stomach against his chest, aware that, even though there was little between them, it would feel to Evan like she was miles from touching him.
"...the underworld may demand even more than this."
Dehaljadrun then leaned back on her knees to rub her thin, feminine cock over the front of Evan's pants while her lips found and kissed Evan's lips more tenderly and lightly than she ever had, feeling bold now that Evan wouldn't be able to fully experience it.
And though Evan's senses--and therefore her own--had been severely dulled, the goddess found great satisfaction in suspecting that there could only possibly be room enough in his mind for one thought: her. Dehaljadrun's body undulated sensually in response.

Re: Part 1
Evan watched as the goddess moved to straddle him, taking in her words with cautious skepticism. She'd done something like this on their first night, but it didn't seem like sensation was lagging; it seemed like it just wasn't there, or in the very least that it was very, very far away. His eyes could see that her weight was on him, her thighs against his hips in places that should be real fucking sensitive after everything they'd just been through. But it felt more like she was sitting on top of a pile of blankets on top of him, the pressure was so light and the satisfaction of it so out of reach. The motion of her leaning over him, her breasts moving into the forefront of his dulled vision, did pull more blush onto his cheeks, though only faintly. His arms wanted to reach around her and pull her closer, like maybe if he squeezed her then the contact of her skin would feel more real, but he stubbornly held them down at his sides.
Then, she mentioned the underworld, and Evan's eyes shot up to her face, his expression suddenly sharper. That was what the dull panic at his periphery was on about; she was making him feel like he was almost dead. Honestly though, he couldn't deny that the sensation--or, rather, lack thereof--really was peaceful in a lot of respects, especially when removed from contexts of hypothermia and a dangerous shortage of blood.
The goddess caught him off-guard as she leaned down to touch their lips together. Although the sensation was subtle, it utterly captured his attention, pulling his mind away from that experience so many years ago and back into the present. He finally released his arms from his own stubbornness, and they wrapped around the goddess eagerly, digging their nails into her skin and doing their absolute best to pull her close as he deepened the kiss. It was bizarre and absolutely maddening how far away she still felt. His tongue ventured into her mouth as if searching for her, while his hips pushed off the ground to try to magnify the subtle sensation of the goddess' pressure against them. It wasn't even that he felt especially aroused or frustrated in that sense; truthfully, he was far from it, but hungered to feel something. The goddess had either hidden or stolen so much from him, and either way, he now wanted it back.
With a grunt, he planted his feet solidly against the ground and threw his hips up and to the side, aiming to throw the goddess off him and roll them both over. It took an enormous amount of willpower, having to fill in for the anger and pride that usually fueled such moves but weren't currently accessible at their usual volumes. If he didn't succeed, he'd settle for grasping tightly at the goddess' hair and pulling her out of the kiss. Either way, he'd will his eyes to focus on her as sharply as he could muster, but he'd certainly prefer to do it from on top of the situation.
"Making sure I won't just stop moving if I get too close to death? There's no way in Hell I'd ever stop."

Re: Part 1
The goddess paid acute attention to the areas of Evan's body and emotion that were still fighting to stay active. She recognized the blush on his cheeks and was immensely pleased by the frantic movements of his body as he attempted to pull her closer and feel more of her. The sensation of his tongue in her mouth created a wave of pleasure that splashed up from the lower parts of her body and almost made her lose control of her ability to keep Evan from his sensation. In fact, he might have experienced a mercilessly brief flood of sensation as his tongue hit hers and she faltered.
She got everything back under control very quickly, which was fortunate because then she was able to easily adjust her weight as Evan attempted to roll her over such that his motions fell flat as his body rested against the ground. The goddess laughed deeply as his grip tightened in her hair and he pulled out of the kiss before she turned her attention to Evan's words.
Was that a dare? It sounded like a dare. Her grin turned terrifying as her feet curled around Evan's ankles to prevent his legs from most movement.
"We'll see about that."
Her mouth struck him in a flurry, her teeth finding first his neck, biting again that place that had seen plenty of play over the past few days and pulling, pulling, pulling more out of him. Some part of her worried that he might be close to some breaking point--perhaps even thrallhood--but this wasn't him giving in, exactly; she was withholding his physical and emotional sensations, not enhancing them. Perhaps this was so far the other direction to cause a different type of damage, but the goddess felt strangely in control of the situation, bolstered both by Evan's ability to continue fighting and the power she had soaked up through the tree.
Then her teeth bit a line beginning just above Evan's cock moving up his torso, each bite pulling a little more of his sensation out of him. As she got to his diaphragm, she was already buzzing with how much she was holding from him, aching to give it back--and more--but eager to keep it from him as long as she possibly could. Finally, the goddess bit down in the center of Evan's chest and stayed there, hungrily lapping up anything he would give her.
((OOC: So, she's going to be very keyed into any memories or thoughts that come up for Evan at this point, if he remains able to think. If you think he might become unconscious, she'll just come find him in his dreams, although it would be helpful if you could set up the initial dreamscape.

Re: Part 1
Evan felt a dull, distant pulse of fear as the goddess smirked, some part of him certainly worried about what he'd just signed up for. As ever, he remained confident that the goddess didn't want to kill him, but he wasn't necessarily positive that she wouldn't kill him on accident. Even so, as things stood, he'd rather do his part to stay alive than ask her to stop.
Light pricks of pain did string through his body when her teeth bit down on his injured neck, still scabbed over from the last time she had broken skin there. He held onto that pain as long as he could, fascinated by the process of it receding into the place where she bit, and ultimately out of his reach. Honestly, it felt good, if absolutely bizarre and in some abstract sense alarming.
His arms slumped against the ground as she bit up his torso, energy and attention now in debilitatingly short supply. The static sound of water in his ears was nearly overpowering, his vision barely more than a single intangible blur. He gasped at one point, entirely because he realized he'd been forgetting to breathe. He focused on breathing for a moment after that, narrowing the attention and the effort he had left within him into stubbornly filling and refilling his lungs with air, but as the goddess bit down on the center of him, even that became a herculean task. Some small, exhausted part of him mentally cursed, right before his eyes fell shut, and darkness closed in on him.
---
Evan leaned against a tree in the woods, his cheek heavy against the bark and his attention fixated on the rough texture of it. He was tired--exhausted--and practically numb, his clothing soaked through in the near-freezing rain. He desperately wanted to sleep, but he knew if he did he wouldn't wake up. Some part of him was okay with that thought, which absolutely terrified the rest of him. Pissed him off, too. Wouldn't that be just fucking convenient for his old man, if Evan just quietly disappeared in the woods? Course, he hadn't been thinking about that kind of spite when he'd started this little excursion, but truth be told, he hadn't been thinking of much of anything at the time--just escape.
He wearily lifted his head just enough to look down to where his hand held his jacket tightly against his side--or, as tightly as he could muster. The burgundy color of blood was all over him, even with the rain trying to wash it off. Fuck, it was a lot. Some morbid part of him wanted to lift the jacket and see the wound underneath, but he knew he had to keep pressure on it. He wasn't ready to give up, which meant that he had to keep moving.
With a deep groan the boy slowly pushed himself to his feet, meticulously balancing the amount of energy he had to put into his legs to make that happen with the amount of energy he needed to reserve to make sure his hand stayed pressed with his jacket firmly against his side. He was dizzy, but did his best to still himself once he was standing and take in some deep breaths, practically willing his body to adjust so that he could start walking.
((OOC: I will admit I am still largely making up this memory as we go but I fear if I don't I'll just spend forever trying to plan it out and get stalled longer than either of us would like lol. I have a little bit more context already in mind than just what's here, so let me know if you need more, or just have Dehaljadrun describe what kinds of things she'd be paying attention to next post and I can elaborate. The current dreamscape is mostly cold rainy forest with no particular details that we're tied to, and Evan would be happy to stumble into a different context at any point. I think it's around sundown/twilight.))

Re: Part 1
The goddess pulled and bit and sucked in the center of Evan's chest until she felt his body go slack. For a moment, some part of her panicked, but there was a confidence within her she could not explain that only got stronger when she saw the opalescent strands of his dream emerge. This was truly her realm. This was her playground. And, while this wasn't exactly what she would have intended for the evening--had any of them really gone as planned?--it felt right.
The goddess took great care in peering into the dream, preparing to shape or perhaps even enter it, and the vividness surprised her. It was definitely a memory--the young version of Evan had entirely too much conviction for it to be anything else--and from the bits and pieces she had picked up, this fit with everything else she knew of Evan.
This would need to be a delicate matter, shaping and entering his dream, and part of her just wanted to stay with his body, to caress and play here, but the dream called, and far be it from her capacity as goddess of dreams to deny it. This, too, after all, was pleasurable. Settling in for the experience and taking a deep breath as she resolved to continue withholding Evan's sensation--some intangible muscle only now beginning a light ache that surely the goddess could withstand a while longer--she lay her body atop Evan's as her fingers gently tangled in the opalescent strings of the dream.
--
She felt his cold. She felt the blood seeping out of him from the wound. She felt his determination and desire to survive, despite it all. It wasn't a sensation at all like merging their bodies had been; this was far less physical for the goddess as she was just a disembodied presence in the dream, watching Evan, curious to see what his next move would be. This was certainly no time to make an appearance, and she ached to know what had drawn Evan's mind here, of all places. What had connected this place--this memory--to his chest? It was a vulnerable place on his body, to be sure, and the underworld would surely have found it had she not gotten here first. Her own chest ached at the thought.
